The ceremony’s participants included President Takao Kawamoto from Tsuneishi Shipbuilding, Executive Director Shigeru Fujii , President Hitoshi Kono from THI, and the superiors and coworkers of the trainees. In front of the many attendees, each trainee gave a ten minute presentation in Japanese about what they learned in their training, what solutions they propose for issues at their overseas base, and their future goals.
From mid-October, 2013, third term trainees spent six to twelve months studying Japanese language and culture at MIROKU-NO-SATO JAPANESE LANGUAGE SCHOOL OF INTERNATIONAL CULTURE INSTITUTE., while undergoing OJT at their assigned posts. In addition to improving their language ability and job-related skills, at the company’s factory they gained an understanding of and acquired skills in Japan’s monozukuri manufacturing system. Having returned on September 26th, they will go on to implement business improvements at their respective bases.

Ever year TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING Co. holds a one year training program in Japan for employees from its overseas group companies, including TSUNEISHI HEAVY INDUSTRIES (CEBU), Inc.（THI：Cebu, Philippines）and TSUNEISHI GROUP (ZHOUSHAN) SHIPBUILDING, Inc.（Zhoushan, Zhejiang, China）. This program seeks to cultivate human resources and localize management in these companies. Around 15 trainees are selected from various departments such as shipbuilding, sales, human resources, general affairs, and accounting. Since the program’s commencement in December of 2012, approximately 43 participants have undergone training, including 16 from the third term. On October 15th, 14 new participants will arrive in Japan to begin their training as fourth term trainees.
Under this program trainees undergo OJT at various posts within TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING Co., Ltd. Meanwhile, they study Japanese at the MIROKU-NO-SATO JAPANESE LANGUAGE SCHOOL OF INTERNATIONAL CULTURE INSTITUTE (http://www.miroku-jls.com/ Numakuma-cho, Fukuyama City), with a goal of passing the Japanese Language Proficiency Test. As a place to experience Japanese culture at a deeper level, the institute holds various events including participation in regional festivals and the “ekiden” road relay, calligraphy, flower arrangement, a field trip to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, and a trip to Kyoto.
